purple hair?

I've been in a funk lately. It's been an on going thing for what I figure is about 9 months. I think I'm coming out of it, but it's been a long haul. More on this one of these days.

So what do I do? I go see my hair stylist yesterday. Since January, I got daring and have been having her tint my hair with lots of red. For the 6 months before that I had been just having her use a bit more red in the basic dark brown hair dye. Gotta get rid of the greys somehow. The greys are multiplying at an alarming rate. Stress will do that to you. So will a genetic disposition towards greying early (thank you mom!) I had enough of dad's dna so that I didn't get the greys in my twenties or early thirties. Mid-thirties...ah. Lots of stressful things happening - enough that I started to get a streak on one side. Got my hair colored for the first time in July of 1999 - just a basic dark color to get rid of greys.

So anyway, I've been feeling daring. Life is too short and all that. Kind of shocked Denise (poor hair stylist) yesterday when I said I'd like to change my hair color a bit. "What color?" "How about blue, purple or burgandy?" LOL... Bravely, she did show me blue, purple and burgandy. Not exactly what I had in mind *grin* It would have required lightening my hair first and then I would have felt like an aging hippy - but they were definitely blue, purple and burgandy. Nope, nope, nope. She said that what I probably wanted was more of a violet color and showed me some samples. Dark with definitely violet. Hmmmm... So, I had her use the mahogany aka red violet stuff. I definitely have violet purplish colored hair in the sun. It's ...interesting... *laugh* I am liking it. The red (which I do like a lot) has a tendency to make my hair look browner. This new color - brown it is not.
