Thanksgiving 2012

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This year was a smaller celebration - 26 people total. Auntie Asako & Uncle Taro didn't come - they're in an assisted living home in Newark. Auntie's Alzheimer is much worse. She doesn't know people according to her daughter. Of the aunties, only Auntie Clara & Autnie Nobuko were there. Art & Louise were home sick.

Usual spread - turkey, ham, rice, mashed potatoes, salad, stuffing, gravy, baked yams, egg rolls, char siu, teriyaki flank steak, green beans, cranberry (both canned and home made), seaweed salada, spam musubi, inari, kappa maki, finger jello, spanakopitas, artichoke-jalapeno dip, spinach dip, veggies, rolls and other munchies. No chow mein (because I forgot), duck (K said to skip it this year as there were fewer people), or eggplant parmigiana (Louise wasn't there).

The kidlets made four types of finger jello - lemon, lime, berry blue and strawberry-banana. Next year we'll do six types as there will be more kids (the LA and East Coast Shojis alternate between the two sides of the family)

I do not know if there was a secondary gathering today. It would have been G & K's friends dropping by. I am feeling very introverted today and am taking a long time out =)
