Happy Birthday Mom!!!
Today would have been her 79th birthday. Alani picked out purple and white carnations and I had them add a dendrobian orchid, some baby's breath and greenery to the bouquet. We placed the bouquet in the niche, bowed our heads and sent our love. I wish that she was still here so we could have given her a big hug as we wished Mom/Grandma a very happy birthday. This makes 15 birthdays that I haven't been able to give her a hug.
So in her memory, I will be walking in Relay For Life - the annual fund raiser for the American Cancer Society.
Team Redwood City will be selling snow cones and we'll all be walking at some point over the 24 hours of the relay. Please come and join us! (I'll be there the entire 24 hours, but for sure will be walking between 1am and 3am)
The Luminaria Ceremony is at dusk - hundreds of luminarias will be lit and will continue to glow all night long. Every year, I read all the messages on the luminarias - happy & sad - I remember all the people I've lost to cancer - and those who are still fighting it.
