Da Family Vacation - Part IV

As we were leaving the Rainforest Cafe, we checked out the shows at the movie theatre. Had very, very vague thoughts about catching the 12:01 showing of Harry Potter, but they were sold out. Probably for the best - we would all have ended up taking an expensive nap.

So, a week ago Wednesday, we slept in. Checked out of the hotel at 11am, had breakfast at IHOP, and then went shopping at Downtown Disney. After much debating, Kyle picked out some stuff at the Lego store for his vacation prezzie. Alani had her heart set on yet another Build-a-Bear. She came home with Buttercup, a cute Hawaiian outfit, a Winnie the Pooh costume, a satin pink dog bed and little flower barrettes. Picked up prezzies for Maddy, Lizzie and baby Joe too.

Spent the afternoon at cousin Kimberly's - you forget how comforting it is to rock a small baby. Joe's soooo cute! Maddy and Lizzie have grown a lot!

Thursday morning, I read in bed until noon. Lovely! K & Lorie dropped G and kidlets off at a friend's place in Manhattan Beach for a sleepover. Then we met up with Sy (aka Cousin from Hell) and had dim sum for lunch. Spent the afternoon doing nothing except watching cooking shows and dozing. Sy & I had dinner at The Boiling Crab. Boiled shrimp in a medium spicy cajun garlic butter sauce (had to peel them and they were HOT), fried oysters, corn and sweet potato fries. A delicious, but only on vacation, meal. I'm still not a huge fan of sweet potato fries.

Friday, I picked up G and kidlets. They'd had a blast - Kyle especially liked boogie boarding. G got a quick lesson in rip tides - the lifeguard had noticed G and Melenna's worried looks while the Kyle and his buddy Marcos were boogie boarding. He told them that if the kids got caught in the rip tide, all they needed to do was swim 10-20 yards to the left or right and they'd be fine.

On the road by 8:30 Saturday morning. Stopped at Iron Skillet for a pit stop and ice cream break. Kyle and Alani discovered the joys of cotton candy ice cream. Very, very sweet. blearg. Lunch at Harris Ranch.

Home by 5pm. Yay!
