One day, my coworker showed up with black hair and blue highlights. Very subtle. OOOOOH, that's what I wanted. When I told her so, she said it was mistake - her husband had wanted her to do black instead of the reddish tinge that she'd been having. So she had done the very black hair color and had ended up with blue where her greys were. She was definitely not crazy about the result.
On Monday, she stopped by my desk with a bag... "present" she said. It was a bottle of the hair dye. *g*
So, I've spent the last few days trying to get up the guts to try to do this "hair dye" thing. I've always had a professional color my hair - was afraid I'd get "stripes" from missing areas or doing something totally wrong and having hair fall out or something. Logically I know this wouldn't happen, but emotionally... Oy.
So I called my dear sweet buddy, bestest friend Joyce. She still is a licensed cosmetologist, but she stopped doing it professionally when she had kids. She was sooo not into doing this. She prefers things to looking natural, and pure black is not - usually it's a very dark brown. Her inner cosmetologist was screaming "NO", but being my friend, she went ahead and colored my hair. It was definitely messy and blue/black is very very noticeable.
I'm waiting for it to dry to see what blue I can see...
