Fairy's Fabulous Fiftieth Fiesta, Part I

For the past two years, we have been plotting on throwing The Lilac Fairy's 50th birthday party. Everything from something exotic (is there a castle close by?) to something a little more real (how about the diner that serves good coffee and bacon?). Save your pennies! It's a surprise!

So, Thursday, people started flying in from all over the place. drinteot from Oklahoma, an_sceal from Virginia and tammy_g from Indiana were among the first to arrive.

greenmtnboy18 arrived around 5:30pm and was picked up by trektone. herefox met me at work and then we picked up pezazul around 8:30pm. Kev, Foxy & I ended up having dinner at Denny's (nothing else was open). Everybody else went to the Peruvian restaurant in Jack London Square.

Friday, started out with going to cult gym. Then Foxy, Kev & I did some unpacking of book boxes (yeah, so I still haven't unpacked yet). Then we met Tammy, Reesa, Alex & Deb at their hotel. Lots of hugs and squishes! We ended up having lunch at one of my favorite Chinese comfort food places - Silver Dragon.

After lunch, Reesa, Alex & Deb went to Fisherman's Wharf. The rest of us went to pick up mat_t at Oakland airport. It would figure that something would go funky when Mat came to town. The airport had shut down due to somebody going in the out door and the security people were unable to find the culprit. Car traffic was backed up all the way onto the freeway. People were getting out of their cars and walking in. Mat's plane was delayed (as in flying around in circles before being allowed to land) and there was an additional delay due to no gate being available.

Stopped at the store to pick up some more munchies and then back to my place to chat and move the last of the boxes.

We had to be careful as Lee could be anywhere in Alameda and after having kept the secret for almost 2 years, we didn't want to blow it by meeting her face to face somewhere.

Went to Best Buy & Bay Street Mall for some last minute shopping. Walked into the Apple store, clerk came right up to us and asked us what we wanted. He went and got it and we were out of there in less than 10 minutes. Lovely service!

Dinner was at Tony Roma's - roll call: Tammy, Mat, Alex, Deb, Sean, Kev, Reesa, Joey and moi. Brief chat on whether anybody knew what Lee's favorite cake was - nobody knew. Oops. Stopped at Barnes & Noble for some book geeking.

Went to check out Pizza Uno's (or SF pizza) and found to my dismay that they had moved that weekend. Had to rethink dinner plans for Saturday night...

Tammy and company went back to the hotel, Joey went home and Kev, Foxy & I went back to my place. Much chatting at my place. Sleep? Who needs sleep? Why does that phrase sound familiar *g*?

Yes, in fact it IS all about me!
The funny part is, I WAS off work on Friday but the only time I went outside of my apartment was to take out the trash.

Debbie should have gone into covert operations, or been a con artist. Sneaky sneaky sneaky..

Uhm.. I do mean that in a GOOD way!

iPod! She gave me a shiny black iPod! We loves our Ipod we does...

I knew you were off - that's why we had to be extra careful...
