Da Family Vacation - Part I

A week ago Saturday, packed up the car and K, G, kidlets and I did the yearly trek to Disneyland and environs. We were on the road by 7:30. Go us!

As the kids get older, we need to pack less stuff, so there was actually space in the van. Kyle played KH on his gameboy and Alani listened to music and Junie B. Jones stories on her cd player.

A couple of potty stops and lunch at the Iron Skillet - we made it to Lorie's by 3pm.

K, Lorie and kidlets went to Nishi's Obon festival. G chilled at the house. I met up with tammy_g and had dinner at Shakas. Tammy had her first taste of spam. All she could taste was the fishiness of the nori. Oh well *weg* It was great to have a chance to chat with Tammy!

Sunday, we drove over to Auntie Hey and Uncle Mits' in Gardena. Uncle Mits is looking good - especially after the scare in his health earlier in the year. Aunite Hey was her usual self and had a huge spread of food out. Cousins came to visit: Robert, Phyllis, Marie, Ken, Justin, Jessie, Marcia and Heidi. Tentative plans for a family reunion at Phyllis' next year. Heidi brought over one of the boys' half size violin for Kyle to borrow. Kyle will be learning violin during the school year.

Checked into the Park Vue Inn, across the street from Disneyland around 7:30pm. Kidlets and I went swimming. I managed to screw up left shoulder again. It feels like a reoccurrence of that drat tendonitis. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

K & I went off to Downtown Disney for a couple of hours. So not ready to go to sleep at 9:30pm. Next year, for sure, we are getting two rooms.

Da Family Vacation - Part II

Monday = Disneyland!!!

Alani is finally tall enough to ride most of the fast rides at Disneyland now. Space Mountain anybody? The first ride we rode was Space Mountain - less than a 20 minute wait. We all watched her face at the end of the ride - would there be tears? NOPE! She loved it! "Can we ride it again????" Astroblasters. Star Tours (ICK ICK ICK)...

It's A Small World doesn't look very different, but the boats no longer drag on the bottom of the moat anymore. Supposedly some changes were made to make it more PC, but the only ones I noticed were the Disney characters added to the ride. (Alice, Alladin, etc)

Alice in Wonderland. Mattahorn Bobsleds. Yup, she loved this one too. Hello Houston, we've got another adrenaline junkie. Just like her brother.

Found out she was too short for the Indiana Jones ride, so she and I did the Tarzan's Treehouse and Pirates of the Carribbean. Met up with K, G & Kyle after they'd also ridden Pirates and we did the hour wait for Splash Mountain. Alani really liked that one too. Yay!

We rode other stuff, but I'm drawing a blank...

Late lunch break outside the park - lunch at Captain Kidd's, and then some swimming back at the hotel.

CA Adventure. Rode Soaring Over CA (a family favorite!) Watched the Main Street Electrical Parade. OOOH Shiny!!! K, G & Kyle went off to catch a few more rides and Alani & I headed back over to Disneyland. We saw some of the fireworks, rode the train around the park, Peter Pan, Snow White, Space Mountain. Enchanted Tiki Room... Back to the hotel around midnight. She was out in a minute.

Da Family Vacation - Part III

Tuesday was more Disneyland...

We split up again. Alani and I did Space Mountain first thing. Fun!

She likes Star Tours too. Ick ick ick ick ick...

We did Pinocchio, the train, Toontown, the Inspector Gadget rollercoaster twice, Roger Rabbit's ride. Bought taffy (they'd gotten cotton candy on the first day). Tried to keep her hydrated.

At 2pm, we left the park again. Met up with Lorie. Alani threw a hooey. She did not want to go to IHOP. She did not want to leave the park... *sigh* Combination of being tired and a low blood sugar. She gets really cranky with either condition and combined??? She was much better after she ate two pancakes along with chicken strips and fries. Chocolate milk and a glass of water later - so much better.
