Secret Santa/Office Party

Not sure how this secret santa is going to work out. I picked out two victims and one of them sort of figured out it was me. She came up to me and said "Thank you for the reindeer". I tried to act all innocent and such, but I don't think it worked. Debating on whether to continue this or not for her. Hmmm. Other victim was out of the office until the afternoon, so have no idea what her reaction was.

Had our department holiday party today. We had a lovely lunch at The Waterfront Restaurant - salad, followed by choice of steak, salmon or chicken, served with stir fried carrots and zucchini and pasta, and ice cream for dessert.

We had our usual silliness with the white elephant gift exchange. We have a no holds barred exchange - you have a choice of either pick a gift from the table or steal from somebody else. If you pick a gift, you unwrap it, show it off and the round is over. If you choose to steal, you take a gift which has been opened by somebody else. They have a choice of steal or pick. The round continues until a person chooses a gift from the table. You cannot steal a gift which has already been stolen in the round.

The hot gifts for this year? Two bottles of BV wine (merlot & cab?), the chocolate fondue set, the cognac gift set and the 36 pack of AA batteries. I was surprised at the latter, but Larry told me it was because of all those toys which have to have batteries on Christmas morning (the gameboys, the race cars, the talking dolls). I ended up with a set of cocktail stirrers from Pottery Barn.

Movies! Not only does work pay for the lunch, but we also get a $10 gift certificate to Century Theatres and a gift certificate to either Starbucks, Jamba Juice or Barnes & Noble. After lunch, we all headed out to the Century 12 and the movies. Majority of the people went to Oceans 12 or The Incredibles. I think Fred was the only person who went to see Closer.

My choice? The Polar Express - which I enjoyed a lot. I was the only one from the group to choose this one - in fact there were only 11 people in the theatre. (The previous showing had been packed with a gazillion small kids).

I now need to pick up the book (which I haven't read) and the soundtrack.

In a little bit, Karen & I are going be brave and daring and go to Toys R Us. Pray for us =)
