Email from Gayle informs me that I now have a bald nephew.

I am trying to figure out which god or goddess I have so pissed off. Shower tonight was, shall we say COOLISH!!!??? It's a bit late to try and figure out if my water heater's pilot light has gone whacked, but that's the obvious conclusion. I HAVE to go to work tomorrow, and the online PG&E "relight gas water heater pilot light" says that the only times I can scheduled a tech to come out is 8am to 8pm tomorrow or some other Thursday. I don't think so. I think if I called in the morning, I could get somebody to come out on Friday. Saw some people working on the street today, not sure if it was PG&E or Bureau of Electricity. Damn.

lilacfairy, trektone and I went to A Cote for dinner tonight to celebrate Lee's new job. We basically noshed our way down the menu - a bit of duck confit, some salad, pommes frites, fried calamari, olives, seared scallops with lentils and turnips, and pear & gorgonzola flatbread with walnuts & thyme.

Desserts soon followed -
  • COUPE BELLE HELENE - A Sundae with Caramel Pear Ice Cream, Chocolate Souffle Cake and Hot Fudge
  • TARTE AU CITRON - Meyer Lemon Tartlet with Chantilly and Candied Lemon Zest
  • PUMPKIN ZUCCOTTO - Pumpkin Cake filled with Pumpkin Mousse served with Chantilly, Butterscotch and Candied Pecans
  • Joey asked for and received a bowl of the caramel balsalmic gelato which was usually served the with the chocolate tart
I tried a bit everything. Kev would have loved the Coupe Belle Helene - the dark chocolate fudge was wonderful. The gelato was good in weird way - it's caramel with a zing at the end. I liked the pumpkin zuccotto the best, could have done without the whipped cream and the sauce - parts which Joey liked the best.

Started off one evil plot - haven't heard anything back yet from victim friend.

Set off another evil plot - did succeed - it must have been the bambi eyes I had to make. It's not 100% confirmed yet.
