The Weekend

Friday night, I took my godchildren, Wesley & misstsapinay, to see Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby at American Theatre of San Jose. I had wanted to take them to a "nice" restaurant, but that didn't happen because of traffic. We ended up trying a 50's style diner called Peggy Sue's. Blue cheese hamburger was lovely. Both kids (yeah, 18 & 22... OY!!!!) had the bacon cheese chicken burgers. Fries were definitely a guilty pleasure.

We met Jenny, Joe Ann, Shawn, Alison & Nick at the theatre. Everybody enjoyed the show. It's still one of the favorite childhood stories. Lots of wee kids in the audience - most dressed in their fancy clothes. Saw several princesses and fairies. Loved the scene when everybody has to clap and believe in fairies to save Tinkerbell. Lots of little ones (and not so little ones) saying "I BELIEVE!!!" Peter Pan flew over the audience, dropping fairy dust on all...

I now have to acquire tickets to see Chicago... Christmas present for certain people. Of all the shows to see, they want to see THAT one. *sigh* Oh well =)

After the past week, I decided it was time for a wee vacation. Foxy was feeling the same way, so we went down to Carmel for the weekend. We stayed at Hofsas House. We got a complimentary room upgrade - Woooweee!!! Instead of a standard room, we got the 2 room deluxe suite - one bedroom with king size bed & private bath & the living room with a queen size sleeper sofa, wood burning fire place, dining area, wet bar and balcony.

Started out with brunch at Pernile's - vegetarian omelet with salami *grin*. Did some Christmas shopping - had much fun in the candle shop. Had lots more fun in the wine & cheese shop. They had shropshire cheese - YUM!!!!

Then spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach. Water didn't feel that cold. Didn't get *that* drenched. Watched this one guy paddle out on the boogie board - he spent most of the afternoon just paddling - he didn't try standing up on the board until almost sunset. Watched the sun set - fog was rolling in. Very, very peaceful. Very Cold too. Didn't realize just how cold until my feet got that pins & needles feeling. Oops. I ended up with leg cramps on the way back up. Bleech.

We ended up having some chinese food, (hot & sour soup, ginger beef, broccoli in garlic sauce and rice) along with the cheese (3 kinds), salami, truffle pate and sourdough bread. Drank Echelon Pinot Noir and sat in front of the fire and yakked. Figured out by the end of the evening I had had a full glass of wine. Which is why I was asleep by 10:30pm and didn't wake up until after 7am.

Went to the office and picked up some pastries and took them back to the room. Breakfast room was rather full of older people in chaps - most of them had some very nice motorcycles parked in the garage closest to our room. Good thing we were both awake when they started up the motors...

Checked out, and then did some more shopping. Gave in and we picked up something for greenmtnboy18 - just couldn't resist. Need to put it in the mail this week *weg*. Had lunch at the Tuck Box. Scones looked more like giant english muffins, but the jams were tasty. Foxy enjoyed the Welsh Rarebit and as I was craving something healthy, got the chef salad.

Spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach. No wading - weather was a bit coolish. Read until the storm clouds blocked the sun and it started to drizzle. Was enjoyingmsagara's story The Colors of Augustine and had to finish it.

Dropped Foxy off and was home by 7pm. Time to crawl into bed and read...
