Opposite of Sex...

Tonight, trektone and I went to see the musical "Opposite of Sex", based on the movie of the same name. I hadn't even heard of the movie, so this was going to be all new.

Not really knowing the best way to get to Fort Mason during rush hour, I had asked a few coworkers for directions. After much chatting back and forth, they decided that it would be better if I just followed mapquest as their ways of getting around traffic would just get me lost. When I asked about restaurants in the area, one of their suggestions was Greens at Fort Mason.

I guess I'm just really dense this week. It didn't dawn on me until I saw the menu that Greens was a vegetarian restaurant. And I know that Joey had sent me an email re: changing of some of the songs in Opposite of Sex. I didn't realize that it was a musical until the 2nd song. Kind of like the input is being dumped from the buffer and is not getting processed at all. Or, like the adults in Peanuts, "wha wha wha, wha wha wha wha".

Anyway, around 5 today, I asked Laure about how long it would take me to get up to the city. She said with all the bad weather and commute traffic - I should leave in the next 5 minutes. Dooley agreed and said it would be bad. So did Faith. I managed to get out of the office by 5:15.

Traffic was stop and go until I passed 92/101 interchange. It was tolerable from there all the way up to the City. I actually made it to the pick up point by 6:05. Woowee! Went around the block a few times and then found Joey. Made it to Greens by 6:30pm, right on time for our reservation. "hello, ripley's?"

We were immediately seated by the window, overlooking the bay, with the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. Lovely to see all the boats in the marina, the lights from the city and across the water in Sausalito. Split the feta cheese & potato cakes & the grilled polenta. I think I would have been happy with just those. Joey got the curry dish & I got the mushroom raviolis. Would definitely order the raviolis again. The chocolate banana tart with the almost honey tasting ice cream sent Joey into foodgasm. The nectarine tart with the nectarine sorbet was wonderful.

I enjoyed the musical - I especially liked the song called "I'm Not Tom" (not sure if that's actually the name) and "Look First to Me". The girl who played Deedee was excellent and her dialog was fun. It would be interesting to see what will be added (new songs to be added on October 23rd) and what may be deleted.
