In Memory of Anne McCaffrey (1926-2011)

I've got all of her books in one form or another. A few haven't been read, but the majority? Read more than once, some read to pieces. Restoree was one I had to replace. The Harper Hall stories I had to re-buy - so I got it in a hardback omnibus. Her dragonrider stories are among my favorites and Dragonsong & Dragonsinger are among my comfort books.

I remember buying White Dragon - hard cover - with my hard earned after school job money. I wanted it so very much and it was so worth it!

I was lucky enough to get to meet/see her and have a few of my books autographed - once at Dark Carnival (Telegraph store) and at LACon 2006.

As johno posted, "Sigh. ...somewhere the dragons are keening". Oh yes.

Thank you for all the wonderful stories.

When I heard the news, I immediately flashed on Michael Whelan's cover for The White Dragon.

I read and re-read Dragonflight and Dragonquest almost until the books fell apart. And now I wish I still had copies, so I could re-read them this weekend.
