Vampires

So yesterday, I had my annual physical. Oh joy.

Today, I went to the lab to have the usual tests. Today was an OFF-DAY for the vampire. She totally gave up on the left arm. She missed on the right arm. OUCH! Then she went for the top of the right hand. She did use a hot compress first and finally succeeded. Though she missed at first - I could feel her moving the needle around. MORE OUCH!

I see bruises in my future...

YouCH!!!! Please tell me that wasn't a Quest Diagnostics Phleb? After two false sticks she should have gotten another person. You should definitely mention this to the office manager. It's not a mark against you if you can't find the vein sometimes, but you are not supposed to traumatize the patient in the process! If you have two unsuccessful sticks, it seems to me I recall reading that you have to get a second tech to observe at least, or something like that... anyway, on behalf of all the people involved in diagnostic testing, I apologize deeply for your distress!

No, it wasn't Quest.

And there was only one person on site. I see this particular tech most of the time, and I should remind her before she even starts, that I need a hot pack and a butterfly needle.
