Happy New Year!!!

Wishing you and yours a very prosperous, HEALTHY and joyful 2009!

Mochi has been made.

Much crab was consumed for K's birthday dinner. For the non-crab eaters, there was also beef chow fun, beef and broccoli, potstickers, egg rolls, rice and salad. Kyle loved playing with the claw. Alani just said "ick" and wouldn't touch it.

Got a late start in cooking. Mushrooms are simmering on the stove. After that, it's the sato imo, carrots, daikon, bamboo shoots, renkon, and itakonnyaku. Which ojubako to use? Red or black?

Ok. I know what mochi is. I LOVE mochi! What are these other things: sato imo, renkon, itakonnyaku, and ojubako? It all sounds fascinating.
