NASFIC Prep and Day One

Foxy! - when I told rachelcaine about "how you'd love her always if she signed your book and that you wouldn't yell at her if she left this next book on a cliff hanger" - she just laughed and smiled evilly as she signed your book...

Wednesday, I got up early, finished packing, did the gym thing and then G & kidlets took me to the airport. Got my snuggle fix. Tire pressure sensor is still not right. *sigh* Long line at airport security.

Flight was delayed due to thunder storms in Las Vegas. Over an hour delay in departing Oakland and then almost two more hours getting out of Vegas. Being stuck on a plane because there is no gate open once and then the long delay because of the traffic jam taking off again is not joyful.

Got to St. Louis around 8:15 pm. Yay Fwish & Christopher! We had a late dinner at Fitz's . Diet root beer on tap. Yum...

Watched the news about the collapsed bridge. Brought back lots of memories from Loma Prieta.

Thursday, Kev dropped me off at the cult gym while he went off to get some stuff at a nearby restaurant supply store.

Had brunch at a crepe place followed by a quick run through the comic book store. Picked up the first two clone wars comics for Kyle (they were having a sale - buy one, get one free)

Got to the hotel in Collinsville and were able to check in early. Walked over to the convention, picked of registration and then hurried over to the signing area. Was able to get rachelcaine to sign both mine and Foxy's books. Kev got his too.

Saw Kevin Hewitt and chatted with him for a bit while we all waited for the dealers' room to open. He drove from New Mexico. Only took 15 hours. Yup, insanity runs in our clan.

At 2pm, we went to Rachel Caine's reading - she read bits from her story in the upcoming My Big Fat Honeymoon anthology and some from Thin Air and some from her upcoming Morganville book.

3pm found us at the "Do You Torture Your Characters Enough?". Panelists were Rachel Caine, Linnea Sinclair and Barbara Hambly. MIA were E.E. Knight, Beth Meacham and Cynthia Ward.

Did love Linnea Sinclair's TSTL character comment "TSTL = Too Stupid To Live".

Art show... I bid on a few things and bought something for da fwish out right.

Late lunch/early dinner at China Restaurant in Glen Carbons.

Studied for XML final.

10pm panel - "Does the Hero Have to Get Laid?" - panelists were Richard Lee Byers, Robin W. Bailey, Rachel Caine and Carol Berg. MIA: Paul Chafe (M), Barbara Hedges.

Late dinner at Denny's on Thursday because as uaual, you're hungry again after eating Chinese food...
